1. General New York Salesperson License Requirements
The general requirements for real estate salespersons defined by the New York State Division of Licensing Services are as follows:
- Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Have a Social Security Number or Federal ID number.

Below are credit hours required for the New York pre-license course to qualify for your salesperson license.

3. Additional Salesperson License Requirements in New York
If you meet the general requirements and have completed your required course credit hours, you will need to complete the following steps to get your salesperson license:
- Apply for the New York salesperson examination
- Submit fingerprints for a criminal background check
- Successfully pass the New York salesperson licensing exam with a score of 77% or higher
- Obtain sponsorship from a New York real estate broker.
- Complete the New York Real Estate License application

Obtaining Certificate of Course Completion: Upon completion of the course, Colibri Real Estate will provide you an electronic certificate of completion in your account dashboard. You will need to submit your certificate of completion with your real estate salesperson application. Course completion dates are recorded using Central Standard Time, therefore that will be the time reflected on your certificate.

New York Salesperson First Time Renewal Continuing Education License Requirements

Any real estate licensee who renews their license must have completed 22 ½ hours of approved continuing education, 3 hours of which must include fair housing and/or discrimination in the sale or rental of real property or an interest in real property. If a salesperson is within their first license term, they must complete 2 hours of agency along with the other designated educational hours. This change does not apply to those licensees who are exempt from the continuing education requirement.

No Final Exam Passing Requirement.
The New York Real Estate Commission requires an affidavit be submitted to McKissock upon completion of all courses (except non-credit courses).

Rescheduling Your Proctored Exam: Should you need to cancel your proctored exam, you will be responsible for contacting the proctor directly. To reschedule your exam, you must submit a new scheduling request for the re-scheduled date. Students are not permitted to reschedule their exams with the proctor directly as the state requires the school to set those appointments.
You have ONE Complimentary reschedule of your exam. After the first reschedule, there will be a $25 fee for each subsequent change. Rescheduling fees must be paid before your proctor appointment will be rescheduled.
